Water / Agua

This is the very first stage of my next project. It will be an exploration through the water that is essential for life, cleans the earth and purifies the soul.

As you can see this is a very different approach to photography for me, so any feedback will be much appreciated.

G20 PROTEST, London

The G20 Summit  is always accompanied by big protest. Specially this year with the Credit Crunch as a context. Everybody wants to be there: Anarchists, communists, hippies, environmentalists and just curious people.

For me it is just an opportunity to take some pictures with some adrenaline.

La reunión de los G20 está siempre acompañada por grandes protestas. Especialmente este año con el contexto de la crisis financiera. Todos quieren estar ahí: Anarquistas, comunistas, hippies, ambientalistas y gente curiosa.

Para mi, es solo una oportunidad para tomar algunas fotos con un poco de adrenalina.

Three portraits of my wife… and still waiting for the spring project.

For a photographer like me, with a press background, used to taking pictures of issues so concrete you can almost touch them, going out on the street with a camera in one’s hands and no responsibility but to take pictures of nothing or everything can be an overwhelming experience at first – but it immediately becomes addictive.

With passing time and every day work, we become lazy. We don’t carry a camera unless we are working, we don’t take a picture unless it is going to be published.

Through street photography, you see the world in a different way. If you want to take a good picture in the street, you have to understand how everything moves – and you have to move yourself with the rhythm of the street. As photographers, it is an exercise we should all practice.

Para un fotógrafo como yo, con experiencia en prensa y acostumbrado a fotografiar temas tan concretos que casi los puedes tocar, salir de pronto a la calle con la cámara y sin ninguna responsabilidad mas que fotografiar todo o nada, puede ser una experiencia abrumadora al principio pero que rápidamente se vuelve un vicio. 

Probablemente con el pasar del tiempo y la rutina del trabajo, uno se vuelve algo flojo. Ya no saca la cámara a no ser que sea por trabajo, ya no toma una foto a menos que vaya a ser publicada. 

Haciendo fotografía callejera ves el mundo de otra manera. Para tomar una buena foto de calle hay que entender cómo se mueven las cosas, y moverse uno mismo al ritmo de la calle. Es algo que todos los fotógrafos deberíamos hacer a manera de ejercicio.
